New Day, New Diagnosis

and that diagnosis folks is.....

MTHFR (Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase)

and in a nutshell if you haven't heard of it before...

it causes issues with absorption of folic acid, which possibly leads to Neural Tube Defects and/or Chromosomal abnormalities. If that wasn't enough for you it also increases homocysteine in the blood, which leads to increased clotting...which could throw a clot to the placenta, or just prevent a healthy placenta from developing.

Google it for better information...but these are my lay-peoples terms for it...and I can't even pronounce the condition!

  1. ((hugs)) I dont understand why things have to be so hard some people when others who seem so less deserving have no problems...sigh...Still hoping for the best. It will happen for you sweet heart!

  2. I'm sorry. We were checked for this and I remember waiting for the results (and for the other results of the tests being run). There are specialists out there who can help you have a successful, healthy pregnancy. I know it's hard to think about, but there is hope. Sending you big hugs...

  3. I'm glad that you've got a diagnosis, I just wish it was an easier one. Sorry for the bad news. I hope there are some folks in the community that can help you with your new diagnosis.
